O Koupelne/about the bathroom

Tak jsem zrovna napsala strasne dlouhou stat o nasi koupelne a je navzdy ztracena na www. A nevim jestli se mi to chce psat znovu... proste nase koupelna vypada strasne spinave ale je to proto ze zednici asi nevedeli co delaji kdyz delali dlazdice a tak nevycistili ten pisek co se jim lepi dlazdice dohromady a ty mezery mezi tim jsou asi tak 1.5 cm siroky a dneska tam byl strasne velikej cvrcek, lezel na zadech a nemohl se prevratit, tak jsem ho dala kocicce na hrani.

So I just posted a long story about the bathroom but now it is lost in the www. Basically the guys who did the tile job were probably just trying it out for the first time since the spaces are like an inch wide and they never cleaned off the grout off the tiles when they were putting it all together. So you could clean like crazy and ... oh this morning I found a huge bug there, on his back, so I gave it to the kitty to play with... she enjoyed it very much.

the church/v kostele

Ok, so the church experience was interesting, don"t have a another word for it. It was more like an concert of a christian band, which was kind of moving, but then the preacher, but how to say it...very basic, scaring people type thing, 1st. lesson in bible study. well I tried it. It was a church for the upper middle class so mostly white people.

Takze v kostele zpivala skupina Spirit nebo co, normalni koncert akorat zpivali krestansky pisne. Pak ten knez, ani nevim jestli to byl opravdovej knez bleptal neco o tom, abychom se bali boha a o Adamovi a Eve a tak jsem si radsi vzpomnela na Darwina a myslela si svoje. Bylo to jak prvni lekce z Bible. No nic, aspon jsem to zkusila. Ti maly Amici to ale berou vazne, dokonce si delali poznamky o tom co tim basnik chtel rici ... no comment, to je jejich vec.

Sobota. Dnes jsem dorazila do Refilwe. Hned po prijezdu jsem byla zapojena do hrani badmintonu, potrebovala bych novou palku… taky by se mi hodil volejbalovej mic, jelikoz kluci ho puzivaji na fotbalek. Dnes jsem taky skakala na trampoline, slunila se a taky hrala naboso fobalek s petiletym, prehral me. Taky me ten same petiletej Tabo a dalsi mala holcicka neumim vyslovit(zacina na K) premluvili, abych je vzala se podivat na prasatka, prej maji maly… tak jsme sli. Umite si to asi predstavit. Klucika jsem poslala pro pantofle, aby tam jeste neco nechyt. Badminton tu asi bude na denim poradku, hlavne navecer (no jako na tabore). Taky pry zitra v sedum rano vyrazime do kostela, ale pry to neni normalni kostel, asi se tam bude zpivat misto modleni. Docetla jsem knizku od Viewegha. Vrele doporucuji vsem cynikum a milovnikum cerneho humoru. Dopisy ctenarum. A San bonani, neni pozdrav v jazyce Zulu, ale Tswana. Dnes prijel Petovej kamarad, rekl ze vypadam na 16 a ze mluvi asi 9 jiho-Africkymi jazyky z 11. ktery si pry si vubec nejsou podobny, je mu 23 a chce prijet do Ameriky a vdat se za me, aby tam mohl zustat. Tak jsem mu to vymluvila, to zeneni. Zatim mam pokoj pro sebe. Pak tu bude jedna pani na dva tejdny a jedna na dva mesice, nebo tak. Weekendy tu pujdou pomalu. Kocicka mi porad skace na klavesnici. Dnes jsem asi 10 minut premyslela kterou postel si vybrat, nakonec nespim nahore na palande ale dole, dale od komaru kteri sidli na trope, ale stejne me asi vycuchaj.

Right after arriving, I was drawn into a badminton game for more than an hour. I could use a new a volleyball ball, since the boys are using it for a soccer ball. So they could also use a soccer ball. I also jumped on the trampoline today, got some sun – a lot, played a little soccer , barefoot with a five-year old, who ofcourse won, his name is Tabo. He and his little girl friend a three year old begged me to go see the piglets, so off we went, it stunk real bad since there are goats and cows near by as well, and flies everywhere, yack. I send Tabo to go get shoes before we went so that he does catch some nasty disease running barefoot there.Tomorrow morning we are headed off to church, I don”t have to, but trying to be polite and wanting to try it all out, I am in on that, leaving at 7am, but I guess it”s more of a singing church than a mass. Today I was told I look like I am 16 aby Pete”s friend who says knows 9 South African languages, which is not unusual here. He wants to come to America and marry me to stay there. So far I have my own room, I pondered for a while if I should take upper bunk bed or the bottom one… opted out for the bottom one, all the mosquitoes are further away from me.

Takze fotky ktere jsou ted k videni na blogu jsou z Johannesburgu (ctvrt Sun City) a z Refilwe, tabora ve kterem budu ode dneska bydlet. Diky vsem za komentare, a ano pokud muzete tak to ctete Aj i Cj jelikoz me po chvili prestane bavit papouskovat to samy v Aj co jsem zrovna napsala a tak se obsah v obou jazycich lehce lisi. Prave jim musli a yogurt, jeste v guesthousu a kousla jsem do skla... no zuby to prezily takzae dobry, akorat to nedojim. Takze snad se mi podari byt trpeliva s tim internetovym spojenim v tabore a budu vas informovat o vyvoji situace.

Ok, so the photos you can see now are from Johannesburg(Sun City part), it's not that pretty everywhere, and the rest are from Refilwe, the org. I'll be staying at. It's finally sunny today. For those who can read Czech and English, read both, since the content differs slightly. They have a really strong coffee here. ok, so I'll be sure to be patient with the inet there and post as much as I can. Adios amigos.

In Johannesburg

So after a 10 hour flight hoping that Ashley will be following me the next day, I flew over the moon-lit Meditteranean into the very dark African continent, after the fires of Maroco there was no light, period. Jo'Burg is great and seems like just another city with all its problems of traffic congestion, crime, new housing - gated communities for rich, next to shacks for the low income, a mile down the road, like the dewage couldn't make it there. The South Africans that I've spoke to seem to think of thier coutnry as different from the resat of Africa. But then thining again they agree that corruption is an issue they thought wasn't so bad that urban development issues could have been dealth with differently. They ask mw where I am from and I have to say Czech, studying in the States. So today it happened like 10 times when I was introduced to people, I started to be split personality or something.
So I'll be working ina village setting at Refilwe, community org. which contracts with Right to Care. They have a compound at a pretty lush site, about 3sq. miles. about 20 miles N of JoBurg, including a clinic, day care center, housing for volunteers, housing for god-parents and their children, community hall, kitchen, orchard, small river, goats, cows, pigs, rabbits and chicken, micro credit type program. So it's like an all in one nicely packaged, and we'll see if it works. There won't be a good internet connection there so after Saturday, I'll do my best. Stay tuned.

V Johannesburgu/ In Johannesburg

Takze, konecne jsem pristala, po mem 10 hodinovem letu pres osvetlenou Pariz, a zcela tmavy Africky kontinent az na par ohnu v Maroku nebo Alzirsku, do Johannesburgu, kteremu se tu nerekne jinak nez Jo'Burg. Mesto jako kazde jine, spusta aut, zacpy, nova vystavba, hlavne chranenych komplexu pro bohate a v posledni dobe i kazdodenni vypadky elektriny. A prsi tu. Velky rozdil mezi bohatymi a chudymi, na klinikach pro chude se to hemzi lidmi, kteri si priznali ze je treba se nechat testovat na +HIV. Dnes jsem stravila asi hodinu v ordianci s doktorkou Billy, ktera je puvodne ze Srbska ktere ani nevadilo vysetrovat tehotnou pacientku primo prede mnou, slo jen o beznou prohlidku ale tricko si sundat musela. Kdyz jsem se zeptala jestli mam pockat na chodbe tak ze pry vubec ne jeste mi to vylozila co a jak a proc diagnostikuje, v tu chvili jsem chtela byt Stepankem Safrankem abych rozumela vsemu co mi povidala.

Budu nakonec na vesnici, rikam si ze jedu an tri mesicni tabor. www.refilwe.org Mela bych delat posudky detem ve skolce, a ohodnoceni jejich tymu pro pomoc lidem kteri jsou doma a nemohou dochazet do kliniky pro leky proti AIDS. Jsou tu i dalsi dobrovolnici prevazne z USA, je to nejaka skupinka po stredni skole na rok jeli na misii... jsou od nejaky kongregace, vsichni strasne roztomili, po case asi az moc... uvidime:)

Odlet z Prahy 22.1./ Leaving Prague 1/22

Tak se vse konecne vyresilo a po dvou tydnech cekani a marnych myslenek na to co by kdyby, (v Nairbobi nevypukly nepokoje . . .) jsem po asi 4 hodinach telefonovani, s lidmi ze vsech koncu sveta, zakoncila sve usili zakoupenim letenky do Johannesburgu, via Londyn. Akorat, ze ta moje pani z Afriky jeste neodpovedela, jestli me bude, tak brzo rano, moci vyzvednout na letisti , jen maly detail. . . Fotky budou jen co se budu moci pripojit k siti a doufam ze komentari se to tu bude jenom hemzit, dobra rada nad zlato, ze?!

So after two weeks of waiting and slowly getting a bit discouraged, it all gor resolved yesterday after about 4 hours on the phone with different people in different parts of the world. Finally I bought a ticket to Johannesburg via London for Tuesday. The only thing is that the lady Kate in SAR hasn't confirmed that she can pick me up at the airport yet, a small detail. I'll post photos as soon as I can, feel free to comment.

It's 1/13 and I am still in Czech. Trip to Kenya has been cancelled due to the security situation after the elections, so I am skipping the wilderness. Instead I am waiting for the details about my placement in Johannesburg. I am hoping to leave around 1/23 however everything is up in the air.

It is strange to think that all of my classmates are already in place and ready to go tomorrow morning. My two classmates and I are not in place yet, back where we were in April 07. So I am here at my parents' house waiting. Actually, I guess it is the best place to be at this point. So now I am getting creative with the blog, not that I expect many people to read it, if you look at my myspace page, I am less than a mediocre cyber friend (if judged by the amount of other cyberspace friends I have). Since I have about 20 of them and still I only talk to about 5. Oh well, call me old fashioned, I want a direct human contact, face to face with all its drama.
And now since there is still plenty of time to kill... in Czech...

... Všechny holky uz jsou na místě připravene to zitra odtartovat na praxi. Mé dvě spolužačky a ja jeste pripraveny nejsme. Jsme zas tam kde jsme byli v dubnu. Jsem doma u nasich a čekám. Když už musim čekat, tak u nasich je to asi nejlepsi, krmí mě a spat můžu do jedenacti. Popravdě neocekavam, že by muj blog cetlo spousta lidi, (zajimalo by me kolik bloggerů se k tomu ve svém blogu přizná) jen si tu tak zkousim nove veci, protoze mam spoustu casu. Pokud se podivate na moji stranku na myspace tak uvidite ze nejsem nejpopularnejsi cyber kamoska jakou muzete mit, mam asi 20 cyber kamaradu, a povidam si asi jen s 5 z nich. No asi jsem staromodní, kdyz si myslím že přímý kontakt s lidmi mi pořád ještě vyhovuje. I přes všechno to drama.
